TEFL Training by Correspondence
TalkTalk Learning Academy has compiled a 140hr self study course in TEFL. This course is designed to give genuine insight to TEFL teaching its practices and principles. While this course does not hold accreditation from the major language institutions it is a tool valuable for anyone considering TEFL as a career choice. Or even a career move.
On this course you will be asked to complete a total of 6 hours of observed language teaching. We have divided this total into two three-hour sections. We will ask you to complete the first 3 hour session during book 2, and the second 3 hours during book 3. You can make up the three hours in hourly lessons or whatever is the most workable at the school you choose to observe in.
This means that you will need to contact the nearest English language schools to you to ask their permission to observe their teachers at work and to organise your observations at their convenience. Please remember these schools have no obligation to allow you to enter them.
How it works. The course is set up as a series of four .pdf modules. On completion of the first module, the student scans in the relevant completed exercises and emails the scanned images back to the tutor to which he/she has been assigned. Tutors then mark the assignments and the next module is then emailed back together with any comments or suggestions.
